Licensed Midwife, Labor Doula

Even as a young child I knew I would spend my life working with women and babies. Pregnancy has always inspired me, and in high school I decided to pursue birth work as a career. My senior year I had the privilege of witnessing a neighbor’s planned home birth. I was so deeply moved by that birthing mother’s power and strength that I have been studying natural birth ever since.

My midwifery education began in Portland Oregon at Birthingway College of Midwifery, where I received my doula training in 2007, and began the school’s midwifery program in 2009.

My family moved to Teton Valley Idaho in 2013 for me to pursue clinical training closer to where my husband was already working as a fly fishing guide. I spent two and half years under the guidance of Kathy Lebaron and Krista Hays at Selah Midwifery Center in Rigby, Idaho and attended over 80 births as a student midwife. In October 2015 I obtained my Bachelors degree of Science of Midwifery through Birthingway, along with the Certified Professional Midwife (CPM) credential through the North American Registry of Midwives (NARM). I licensed as a midwife in the state of Idaho 2015 and Wyoming in 2016.

My husband and I have spent the last 12 years together, seeking adventure and building our family. We have two daughters, 8 and 2, both born at home.  Outside of midwifery I enjoy live music, cooking, floating the river, and hiking.

Pregnancy & birth consultant, Labor doula

I have been studying natural childbirth and midwifery since 1992. I attended my first home birth when I was 16 as a nanny. I was so inspired by the magnificent power of this woman giving birth and the midwives supporting her. I knew at that moment that I wanted to be involved in the midwifery community. I officially began my study of midwifery during the pregnancy of my first son. I knew that I wanted to experience childbirth naturally and in the comfort of my own home.

Inspired by that experience, I dove into the study of midwifery. I began my apprenticeship in 1994 after the birth of my second son. Since then I have been assisting women and families throughout the childbearing years as a direct-entry midwife, birth consultant, doula, childbirth educator, and herbal, nutrition, and exercise consultant.

I have given birth to three healthy boys at home. With each birth I had amazing midwives and doulas by my side. These experiences have shaped my life and given me excellent tools to share with women and families as they journey on the path of conscious childbirth. I have complete faith in the birthing process and in women's ability to give birth naturally.

I live in Victor, Idaho at the foot of the Teton Mountains. My husband and I own a family restaurant, The Knotty Pine. We grow a large organic garden to provide fresh vegetables and herbs to our community. I am passionate about good health in mind, body and spirit, through good nutrition, exercise, and time in nature. We live to ski, hike, bike, fly fish, travel, raft, garden, and play outside! It is my honor to guide families through the childbearing years!
