Whitni attended all three of my children's births at my home. It is, of course, hard to put into words the reverence I have for what Whitni did for our family! Each babe was ushered into a room filled with candlelight. Not because I planned that, but as labor progressed, I wanted it dark. That is the thing I loved most about home births with Mountain Mamas Midwifery, it mattered what I wanted. I was treated with respect and dignity. Each birth was one of the best experiences of my life. Knowing I was with a supportive and knowledgeable midwife let me be a mother, not someone trying to understand what was happening around me. We all have fears going into birth. But knowing Whitni was with us was empowering, calming and like having the presence of a grandma sharing wisdom and reverence for the sacredness of birth. As lovely as all that sounds, Whitni's knowledge of birth is astounding. As much as I wanted the candles and to stay home, I am confident Whitni would have transferred me to a hospital if she felt anything was askew, and I had the utmost faith in her to make that call if necessary. I, without reservation, recommend Mountain Mamas Midwifery. Having a baby will change your life (duh), it is one of the most intimate experiences you will ever have and Mountain Mamas will be an asset.
A word about the cost of home birth...You will remember the day your baby was born more than any day of your life. Spend more on it than skis, drift boats or trips to exotic places.
